WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL TWO RIVERS WI CLASS OF 1989

TAMMY SWOBODA

Tammy is another classmate I had little or no contact with. I know she was at Clarke. She may have been at Magee too. But I don't recall having any classes with her at any level.

I do know that she and I shared a homeroom at Washington. Tammy seemed like a shy person, somewhat on the middle to lower levels of the popularity ladder. I seem to recall her being friends with fellow graduate Lori Wavrunek.

Perhaps in our junior year, I kind of recall a transformation taking place in Tammy. She started to wear a lot more makeup. And she dressed a little trashy. I'm not sure she even made it through the full senior year. She simply disappeared. Did she drop out? I don't know. I do recall overhearing Lori telling someone that Tammy wasn't her friend anymore. I think she even referred to her as a slut. Strong words for the likes of Lori Wavrunek!

It doesn't look like Tammy graduated with us. Perhaps she graduated elsewhere. perhaps not. I haven't seen Tammy since high school. But it looks like she ended up getting married, and became Tammy Hanes, thanks to Todd Hanes - who would have graduated with the class of 1988. But I don't believe he ever did. It looks like she divorced in 2004. It appears to be a bitter divorce too. It looks like Tammy has spent considerable time in Missouri, but may have recently returned to Wisconsin. I think she has four kids. Below is a picture of Tammy and her fiance.

UPDATE - 7/20/06 - Kevin Dehne and I ran into Tammy on July 15th. She works at Family Dollar in Two Rivers. She's apparently there more often than she's not. She's going to be working at the Family Dollar in Sheboygan very shortly as well. The two shots below were taken in the store.

You have a pretty good memory, LOL. We were at Clarke and Washington together and up until my JR. SR. year I was pretty shy. Then I got a shock, someone in my family wanted to be more to me than a family member and this was devistating. I went through alot of changes, I suddenly didn't care about anything. I was scared of this person and started playing myself off as trashy, no I was not a slut, didn't have sex till I was 18, I just made myself appear that way. Lori and I did part ways but now hold no annimosity. I hooked up with Todd Hanes, another mistake, he turned out to be overly jealous and controlling. I could not talk to anyone without him getting mad. He had me smoking pot for a few months which almost killed me and I have not touched the stuff since. I do have 4 kids now, they are my reason for living. The divorce was very bitter and he still tries to control me by cruelity towards the children. I lived in FL for 2 years then MO for 11 years and finally made it back home.
Wonderful blog by the way, I will return often.

Grow up? Never! I will never grow up. A wise man once said, "Growing up leads to growing old, and then to dying. And dying to me don't sound like all that much fun."

You're as young as you feel. I'm an adult, only when I have to be. Thankfully it's not too often.

Oh yes life has improved greatly. I love my kids dearly they are my life, my love, my pride and joy. I do anything I can to make their life happy. I have a wonderful fiance' of 7 years who treats me like a queen. I am back home, although I really do hate the weather here, lol. I do like being an adult better as well but am with Burt on the not growing up part. I still feel a kid at heart and no where near my age. My kids friends think I am 24, yeah! ROFL Will send in pics and Burt can post if he wants, guess I could throw in the one of me from myspace.com as well just for kicks.

Hi Tammy, glad to hear life is good for you today. No one deserves to be treated like you described and it takes a strong woman to get beyond that and start over. I wish you and your gang the best and that you continue to be blessed with the happiness you deserve.
BTW, did you see that we lived probably less than 10 miles from each other for part of the time you were in MO? :) Small world...I lived in O'Fallon from 1999-2002 and have lived in Lake St. louis since then. My kids go to Wentzville schools! If you worked at the Wentzville store, I have been there, but they just open up a new one right near my house. Where did you live? I've only been to 6 flags a few times but my husband spent many summers there. I love the heat here too...for the most part :)Be well, Erin (Hynek)

Hey Erin!
Wow I wish I would have known that when I was there. I lived in Warrenton and went to O'fallon, Wentzville and St. Charles all the time!
My first several years there I would not have been able to contact you but my last few I would have. Robert would have loved to have met a former classmate of mine in that area. That is his home.
I miss the heat, this frozen tundra weather just sucks!
Great to hear from you too.

When I was in college, I used to wander around the dorms at 2 am looking for people to waste time with.
It's almost 2 now. This is starting to feel too familiar.
