LIONEL MCALLISTER

Lionel is another member of the "who the hell is that" club.

Your guess is as good as mine. Lionel was an African American who appeared in my sophomore yearbook. I believe he was one of those "troubled youths" who resided in a group home. I believe he came from Milwaukee. He looked like an inner city thug. And based on his adult-aged prison terms and felony convictions, I'd say my description was probably accurate.

Today it looks like Lionel lives in Milwaukee with his wife Dionne. He's still in the hood. I have no clue what he does for a living.

What a big time loser this guy was. He told his "group home" people that he asked ME to prom. Just so he could get a night out on the "town". It so happened that the social workers showed up at my house looking for him and I had no idea what they were talking about.
Why he picked me, I'll never know.
I can now say that I was asked to my prom that year, and I never knew it. Go figure!!!

What a coincidence. I told my parents that I'd asked Lionel to the prom. When I got to the group home, they said he was out with you. I was heartbroken.

Seriously, good story. I assumed no one would remember this guy.

I remember Lionel from rec league hoops. Surprisingly enough, Lionel and the group home boys were decent guys whenever we played them. Not surprising was the fact that they were almost all excellent athletes.

Wasn't Lionel on the same rec league team as Mike Denson...??

That sounds like that could be correct. They were pretty decent guys, don't you think, Stroufie?? Did Mike or Lionel ever provide any thrills for you and the TRPD?? I suppose they weren't around long enought to give you any job security!!

They were damn good ball players, for sure.

I don't think I ran into Lionel after high school...Denson maybe, I remember him being around town, but I never really had any problems with him.
